0

Horrortober is here and that means it’s time to start watching horror movies as much as you can. As usual, the Monster Men are here to help. We’ve got 31 movies for the 31 days of October. We have rolled an amazing watch list using the dice game/book, 31 Days of Terror. This is the official horror movie handbook for all serious fright film fanatics.

Our pal, author Steve Hutchison, continues to set the bar, adding new movies and a couple of new star contributors. That’s right, the year Jack and Hunter have been added to the roster and are included in the book. We are thrilled to be in such esteemed, creepy company. How does the game work? Easy. Just roll the dice and follow the book as it takes you into a dark labyrinth of films. Watch us unveil our list and use it… or better yet, buy a copy of the book and set your own October viewing list. Or if you are just looking for an extensive, curated list of horror movies to help you find something to watch anytime, this is for you.

You can pick up 31 Days of Terror on Amazon or visit their site at https://terror.ca/movies

Beers for Fears.

What beer pairs best with a horror movie? It’s the third annual Spooky Spirits episode of Monster Men, where we sample horror and Halloween themed beverages. (Beers, wines, whiskies, etc.)

This year we picked four very interesting assortment of pumpkin ales including Half Full Brewery Pumpkin Ale, Coney Island, Dogfish Head and Two Roads Brewery Roadsmary’s Baby. The good news is that all of these seasonal beers are delicious in their own way, but which one’s did we like best and why? You’ll find out.

Monster Men Ep. 108: Gene Wilder Tribute and “The Scream Effect”

0

This episode of Monster Men is dedicated to the legendary Gene Wilder, a comic genius and all-around beloved figure. When we heard the sad news of his passing, we had no choice but to sit down and reflect on his amazing career and all of the joy he brought us over the years. His filmography is amazing. He has been is some of the greatest and most popular movies of all time, including probably the greatest horror-comedy of all time, Young Frankenstein. Of course, he will truly live forever as Willie Wonka, a character that is both lovable and kind of terrifying at the same time. He and Mel Brooks also collaborated on another all-time classic, Blazing Saddles, but the list of hits does not stop there. Let’s not forget Silver Streak, The Producers, Stir Crazy, See No Evil, Hear No Evil and many more.

Then we move onto the main topic of the day… The Scream Effect. The movie Scream may have a large following and is credited for being a groundbreaking film, however we feel it paved the way for a whole generation of poor horror movies. You may agree with us, you may think we’re crazy. Either one is fine with us. We’re pretty sure you’ll get a few laughs. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Monster Men Celebrate 100 Shows!

0

It started with a simple premise: two buddies talking horror, as they would in a bar. Simple, spontaneous, sometimes spooky and often silly.

It’s the 100th episode of Monster Men! Help us celebrate five years of hanging out and talking horror. It’s been filled with great conversation and a ton of laughs, covering everything and anything including horror movies, ghost stories, toys, paranormal investigations, bobble-heads, author interviews, demons, UFOs, super heroes, book reviews, comic book recommendations, serial killers, conventions, Bigfoot, aliens, candy corn, Halloween celebrations, cryptids, urban legends, horrific wine and pumpkin ale.

It’s been a long strange trip and we are only getting started.

On this show we reflect on the journey so far and thank many of the people who have supported us and helped make Monster Men something special. We also discuss some of our favorite horror movies and finish up with the story about how Spider-man brought the Monster Men together.

Thanks for a wonderful 100 shows. Here’s to what’s next!
